Miss Simpson and Mrs Virdee are the teaching staff in 4S.
We will be using this page to share what we have been learning about so far this year.
This term, our topic is Amazing Africa. We will be learning all about Africa throughout the school curriculum.
We hope you enjoy looking at what we have been learning this term in Year 4!
Year 4 took part in the Ladywood Showcase at Symphony Hall. We played three different pieces on the ukulele including Cobbler, Cobbler and Row Your Boat.
It was a fantastic day in a beautiful building!
During our D&T lessons we have been designing and creating necklaces in the style of the Masai Tribe. We have learnt about the lives of the tribe and how they differ from ours in our Geography lessons.
Year 4 were lucky to have the opportunity to visit Harborne Academy for a taster day. We took part in several lessons including Chemistry, Resistant Materials and Art.
We had a fantastic day at Broadwater Adventure for our end of year trip. Activities included trampolining, go-karting and tackling a tricky obstacle course.
As a school we have celebrated our monarch's 90th birthday by planning and enjoying a party. In 4S we also wrote acrostic poems about Queen Elizabeth II.
Queue up to go and eat something yummy,
Uhoh I have a full tummy!
Elizabeth the II's birthday was so fun,
Elizabeth's Trooping of the Colour, come on grab the gun!
Never before has a queen reigned for so long,
Super awesome party, let's sing a song.
Best ever queen you always share,
It's just amazing you always care.
Royal as you can be,
This can you not see?
Hats and stuff so amazing,
Dear, dear me, the sun is so blazing,
All hail the mighty Queen,
You always have been!
We have been looking at African Art this term. We have been working on silhouette paintings and have created patterned borders to frame our work.
Wednesday 11th November was Remembrance Day, so we observed a two minute silence at 11am. During our Artis lesson with Bungee, we created freeze-frames to encapsulate the themes related to Remembrance Day. These are some of the images we created for the themes War, Silence, Unity and Charity.
In Literacy, we have been reading The Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony D'Terlizzi and Holly Black for our unit about Imaginary Worlds. We will be writing our own stories set in both the real world and an imaginary world.
