Our talent show Friday 16th July

We had a fantastic time at Twycross Zoo. The children loved looking at the animals and having a picnic in the sun. The were very well behaved. Well done children.

We had a surprise when we came to school on Tuesday, there were muddy footprints, tables and chairs turned over and..... a dinosaur and some eggs.

We have been investigating what happened and writing reports for Mr Ellis.

 

Literacy will be based around the story of the Runaway Chapati over the next two weeks. The children have created their own story maps and have been telling the story to their talk partners. We will be talking about the characters and the key events and using what we know in our writing. Thank you for encouraging your children to retell the story using their story map at home, this really helps the children in their literacy work.

Literacy Morning with Parents

 

We enjoyed having our parents come into school to work with us. They were very impressed when we retold the story of 'The Little Red Hen' using our Talk for Writing story map and actions. We split into our groups to do lots of literacy activities based on our food topic. We made jam sandwiches following instructions, talked about rhyming words, labelled pictures of healthy and unhealthy foods and even did some taste testing to describe different foods.

We have been celebrating Chinese New Year as part of our "People and Communities" studies. We made paper dragons, lanterns, fans and cards. We watched a cooking demonstration and tasted the food. We built our own dragon and did a dragon dance.

On the 1st of December we were joined by a new member to our class, his name is Eddie the elf. Eddie will be hiding in our classroom at the beginning of each school day, it will be the children's task to find him and then describe where he has been hiding using positional language. Eddie will be checking up on the children to make sure they are behaving in the run up to Christmas. The children will be encouraged to write to Eddie about the things they have been doing at school and ask him questions which he will reply to. The children can also write letters for Eddie at home and bring them into school for him to read.

On Wednesday November 23rd we went on a double decker bus to Cannock Chase to follow the Stickman trail. We saw tractors pulling trailers piled high with Christmas trees. We walked through the woods following the signs which told us what to do. We found some houses made of sticks, made a stick tower, splashed in muddy puddles, climbed on the 3 bears chairs and found Stickman and Gruffalo. Then we played in the adventure playground before coming back to school to eat our packed lunches. We had a fantastic time!

Hello and welcome to our class page. The teaching staff in our class are Miss Knight, Miss Broadhouse and Mr Huggins. We are going to have a fantastic year full of exciting, new experiences and fun learning. Throughout the year we will post photographs and information about the things we have been getting up to, so keep visiting our page.

Our class bear is Charlie, he loves to spend the weekend with the children in RK. He is very excited about meeting the children and going on lots of adventures.
