Dear Parents/Carers,
Following recent developments in relation to COVID-19, I have compiled a number of fun and exciting websites you and your child can access at home to keep them engaged in interactive learning. As well as this, there will be a number of activity packs spanning different subject areas uploaded onto this website that your child can download and complete over the coming weeks. Let's continue to keep them engaged on their learning journey.
Dear Parents,
Online Safety
Attached below is a link to a page that has been created to support parents during COVID-19 and the closure of schools. A new home activity packs with two simple 15 minute activities will be released each fortnight, which you can do with your child to support their online safety at a time when they will spending more time online at home.
Please do take a look at the link and aim to go through the activity with your child sometime this week. Click on the 'Home Activity Packs for ages 5-7' link to take you through to the downloadable rewards chart and home activity packs.

Please stay vigilant when your child is online when completing work or researching about a topic. Use the following link for more information or the NSPCC website:
Dear Parents,
As part of our Summer 2 Topic 'Spectacular Space', I would like you to sit with your child this week to discuss the following questions:
You can also show your child a clip of the more recent Space X mission to the International Space Station or the landing on the moon clip. Have a go at making your own Space boots by wrapping wellington boots in foil and move like an astronaut!
Enjoy researching!
Letters and Sounds!
Letters and Sounds is an essential part of learning to read and write, we work really hard helping your children to learn their sounds and then blending them (putting them together) to read and segmenting them (pulling them apart) to write. Here is a link to a parents guide to understanding letters and sounds (phonics) - Click Here.
There are also daily lessons for Reception children - click here - and Year 1 children - click here. Encouraging your children to watch these will help them to learn the new sounds they would be learning in school and revise the sounds they have previously been taught. All of this will help your children to be prepared for when they get back into the classroom!
Thank you,
Miss Walker
Dear Parents,
Friday 8th May will mark VE Day, which is a public holiday and day of celebration to mark the defeat of Germany by the Allied forces in Second World War. To celebrate this day, it would be nice for you to sit with your child and explain the significance of this day using the Powerpoint below and complete the tasks.
Once you have completed the tasks, please can you take a picture of your child's work and email it to me. We will be selecting a few examples of children's work to be used for Summerfield's Twitter page.
The tasks include making various wartime meals and designing a VE Day medal.
Enjoy!
Miss Khan
