Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage:

At Summerfield Primary School, we believe that every child deserves the strongest possible start to their education. Our Early Years Foundation Stage provides a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment in which children feel safe, valued and excited to learn.

Through a careful balance of purposeful play, adult-led teaching and high-quality interactions, children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for future success. Our ambitious curriculum supports every area of learning, with a strong emphasis on communication and language, early reading, writing and mathematics. Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, solve problems and become increasingly independent learners.

We recognise that children achieve their best when school and home work closely together. Our experienced Early Years team builds positive relationships with every child and family, helping children to settle successfully and enjoy a happy, confident start to school life.

Our Newly Renovated Early Years Environment:

We have made a significant investment in renovating our Reception indoor environment because we understand the lasting difference that exceptional Early Years provision can make.

Our thoughtfully designed learning spaces are warm, inviting and carefully organised to inspire curiosity, creativity and purposeful play. Each area provides rich opportunities for children to communicate, collaborate, investigate and apply their learning. The new environment also supports children in developing independence, making choices and taking increasing ownership of their learning.

This investment reflects our commitment to giving every child at Summerfield the very best start. We are extremely grateful to our dedicated Early Years staff team for the considerable care, creativity and hard work they have put into establishing this wonderful new provision.
