RE Intent, Implementation and Impact

Intent

At Summerfield Primary School, we take pride in our commitment to Equality and Diversity. Thus, Religious Education is taught throughout the school in such a way as to not only reflect the aims, values and philosophy of our school but also to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our children.

This area of learning is concerned with increasing pupils’ knowledge and understanding of our world. We believe that all learners should develop mutual respect and understanding of the many different beliefs and cultures in Birmingham, the UK and the world. The aim of our Religious Education is to help children to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of the six major religions: Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism and Buddhism. Additionally, Religious Education at Summerfield aims to develop lifelong learners with an enthusiasm, curiosity and enjoyment of religious learning and discovery. We believe that all learners should demonstrate respectful behaviour to all which is transferable outside of school in the wider community, in their future jobs and throughout their lives.

You have the right to withdraw your child from all or part of the Religious Education Curriculum.

Please contact the school for more information.
